The big night may still be three weeks away, but Marketing is starting the celebration today with the release of the first 2012 Marketing Awards shortlist. This list covers TV/Film, Radio and Magazine categories, with more shortlist announcement coming next week.

For the first time, Marketing created an expanded jury of 60 senior creatives from across the country to score the 2012 entries based on each one’s underlying idea, originality and execution. From those scores, co-chairs Andrew Simon of Blammo and Eva Van den Bulcke of Sid Lee compiled this shortlist, which was debated, discussed and voted upon by the in-person jury of 18 creatives in Toronto last month.

Marketing has always asked its co-chairs and juries to set a very high standard for Gold, Silver and Bronze. Because of that, winning a Marketing Award has long been considered a tremendous professional accomplishment,” said Lucy Collin, publisher of Marketing. “But this shortlist is comprised of work that scored very well with a relatively large jury of elite Canadian creatives. That in itself should be considered an honour.”
