Max Valiquette announces departure from Bensimon Byrne

After four and a half years with the agency, industry vet moves on

Max ValiquetteSeen in the industry as a social media and digital expert, it’s only fitting Max Valiquette announced his departure from Bensimon Byrne in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon.

After four and a half years with the Toronto-based advertising agency, Valiquette is leaving his role as managing director of strategy. The “next episode,” he says, starts “just after Labour Day.”

Valiquette joined the agency in 2011 in the newly created position to manage the content development of its Consumerology Report, a national survey commissioned by the agency and conducted by The Gandalf Group. The position marked his return to agency life after working for two years as a freelance consultant.

At the time, Valiquette said it was time to return to an agency setting. Working from home, Valiquette missed collaborating and bouncing ideas off of “smart strategic thinkers,” he told Marketing back in 2011.

Valiquette is perhaps more widely known in the industry as the co-founder of Youthography — a youth-focused market research firm that closed its doors in 2009. At its height in 2008, the Toronto-based boutique firm approached 50 staff members and nearly $9 million in annual revenues.
