Yorkdale Shopping Centre has appointed Media Profile as its public relations agency of record as the Toronto mall nears the end of its $220 million expansion project.

Last year, Yorkdale announced that it would add 145,000 square feet of space, 40 new stores and double the size of its food court by the end of 2012.

Media Profile will handle communications around the expansion but also manage ongoing consumer PR to promote Yorkdale as the “premier shopping destination in Canada,” said agency president Alison King.

Media Profile has been working with Yorkdale-owner Oxford Properties for the last six years. This account win is a “natural evolution” of a strong working relationship, said King.

“This year will be an exciting one at Yorkdale and having Media Profile on board as our PR partner will ensure we make the most of this exciting chapter in our history,” said Anthony Casalanguida, general manager for Yorkdale Shopping Centre, in a release.
