The White Ribbon Campaign, a charitable movement to end violence against women, is bringing its latest PSA to life in downtown Toronto today to promote its annual “Walk a Mile in her Shoes” event held later this month.

A group of men in high heels will be “training” by running on treadmills to raise awareness for the event and the cause.

The “running guys” are based on the character featured in the organization’s 30-second PSA posted at WalkAMileToronto.org.

The goal is to encourage men of Toronto “to put on a pair of heels and join us,” said Nick Rodrigue, director of development for the White Ribbon Campaign, in a release.

“Our annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event is a fun way to raise awareness about something that’s not at all funny: gender relations and sexual violence,” he said.

The event was organized pro-bono by Free for All Marketing with additional support provided by the Allan Candy Company and Environics Communications.
