Publicis Toronto bolsters its creative team with the appointment of Michael Murray as vice-president, creative director on the Rogers account.

Murray, who has produced award-winning work on behalf of Axe, Viagra, IKEA, Toronto Tourism, Licensed to Learn and Nokia, previously served as executive creative director at Blammo, and has also worked at Toronto-based shops Crispin Porter and Taxi.

“Beyond Michael’s creative track record and many accolades, what impressed us about him was that he is a business thinker first,” said Bryan Kane, president of Publicis Toronto, in a release. “The Rogers brand is evolving and it is a huge opportunity for someone with his credentials to do truly transformative work.”

Murray will work closely with former Blammo colleague, Christine McNab, who is now serving as vice-president, client partner of the Rogers business at Publicis Toronto. While at Blammo, the two worked on accounts including Orville Redenbacher’s, Del Monte, LCBO and GlaxoSmithKline.

Murray is the second major addition this year to the advertising agency’s creative team. Former Proximity senior vice-president Scott Pinkney was hired in January as vice-president, executive creative director to head up the shop’s data-driven CRM practice.
