Nathan Monteith

Taxi‘s Toronto office is about to lose a pair of creative directors as Nathan Monteith and Stefan Wegner prepare to go their separate ways.

Monteith is leaving to join DDB Chicago where he will lead the creative team on the Capital One account.

Monteith said he found out about the opening at DDB Chicago when the agency’s headhunter approached him a few months back.

He starts his new position March 19, doing double duty as a creative director and writer. The agency is giving him the chance to write for some of its other clients too, which was an attractive part of the agency’s offer, he said.

Monteith said he learned a lot from his time at Taxi but looks forward to playing a “little bit of a bigger game” and seeing “what the American market is like.”

Stefan Wegner

Meanwhile, Wegner is set to join Leo Burnett‘s Toronto office as creative director in a couple of weeks.

In an e-mail to Marketing, Wegner said he was “excited” about the move. “I think they are well on their way to becoming one of the best agencies in the world, so I can’t wait to get in there and contribute to that.”

Wegner and Monteith first started working together at Bensimon Byrne in early 2000 – Monteith as an art director and Wegner as a copywriter. The pair moved to Gee Jefferey & Partners (now Blammo Worldwide) and then Grip Ltd. before landing at Taxi six years ago as associate creative directors. Both were appointed creative directors in 2010.
