Montreal PR shop tapped for FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada

Marie-Annick L'Allier Public Relations handling media relations for upcoming event

Marie-Annick L’Allier Public Relations has been tapped to handle media relations in Montreal for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.

The soccer world championship is taking place in six Canadian cities, including Montreal.

“Women’s soccer is less well-known than men’s,” says Marie-Annick L’Allier, principal of the three-employee Montreal shop. “Our work is to shine a light on the sport’s evolution.”

In its media positioning strategy, the PR agency will be stressing the fact that tickets to the games are affordable for families, L’Allier says. It has already used that strategy with soccer clubs and student radio stations in support of the organizing committee in Montreal.

The first game in Montreal is June 9 at Olympic Stadium, while the first game involving the Canadian team is in the city on June 15.

L’Allier was previously with National Public Relations, but formed her agency after the Vancouver Olympics. The majority of the firm’s mandates touch upon sports and physical activity.

Marie-Annick L’Allier Public Relations represents a number of Canadian Olympians from Quebec, conducting image and brand management for such winter sport athletes as Alexandre Bilodeau, Joannie Rochette, Marianne St-Gelais, and Charles and François Hamelin.
