MRM//McCann names new president

George Panopoulos tapped to oversee McCann Canada's CRM group in Toronto

McCann Canada has hired George Panopoulos as president of its CRM group MRM//McCann.

“As digital continues its acceleration, there was a need for new leadership for our MRM team,” said David Leonard, chief executive officer, McCann Canada. “George brings with him vast digital talent amassed from leading agencies across North America and internationally, that will benefit our clients, our employees and our leadership team.”

Panopoulos (pictured right) arrives at McCann with 18 years of industry experience, much of that with Critical Mass, rising through the ranks there to senior vice-president and general manager at the agency’s head office in Calgary. Most recently he spent two years with The&Partnership where he was head of digital integration for North America and EMEA based in New York City.

McCann’s release announcing the hiring said Panopoulos brings, “significant business acumen which leverages the latest technologies and trends to create innovative solutions for clients.”

McCann also announced the promotion of Ryan Timms to senior vice-president, client leadership for McCann Toronto.

Timms has been with McCann for 10 years working for clients such as Coca-Cola, MasterCard, Staples and Bayer.

Leonard called Timms “a respected leader in the agency,” and said he’ll oversee client services across the agency’s four Canadian offices.

“Ryan has the innate ability to enable meaningful and impactful strategies that generate big ideas,” said Leonard.
