Natasha Koifman gives back with Haiti inspired fragrance

Every purchase of Twentysix to benefit Artists for Peace and Justice

bottlebox26NKPR president Natasha Koifman has launched her own fragrance, aimed at supporting philanthropic efforts in Haiti.

It’s called Twentysix and is being sold online and, starting in November, at select Hudson’s Bay locations across Canada. The fragrance sells for $75 for a 50 ml bottle.

All proceeds from the sale of the fragrance are going to Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ), which aims to empower communities in Haiti with programs in education, healthcare and the arts. APJ was founded by filmmaker Paul Haggis and is chaired by Koifman.

“It’s a cause that’s really near and dear to me,” says Koifman , who has been going to Haiti twice a year since the country’s devastating earthquake in 2010.

The fragrance, which was created by Canadian custom scents experts Aromachology, contains 26 ingredients, but is grounded in Haitian vetiver, a fragrant grass that grows on the coast of Haiti and is one of the country’s main exports. The scent aims to serve as a reminder that beauty can come out of chaos.

“I wanted something from Haiti so we could tie it back to the country and people,” she says.

Only 1,000 bottles of Twentysix were produced and will be sold until next February or until quantities last. About 50 bottles were sold online the first day the fragrance became available this week.

The people in Haiti “have such heart and such soul and they live on so little, but they have this incredible spirit,” Koifman says. “The country needs support and we will continue to support them.”

Instead of exchanging gifts with clients this holiday season, NKPR has also launched “26 hours of kindness,” an event that will involve a different act of kindness for 26 hours in Toronto and New York, where the agency has its offices. It will start at 6 a.m. on Nov. 26 and finish at 8 a.m. the following day.

“I’m hoping this will inspire others to do one thing that really gives back,” she says.
