Just over a year after launching, nGage Media has changed its name to Play Money Media.

“There are other nGage Media’s out there, so we wanted to be more individualistic and we wanted something a little more focused on what we do,” said Noel Geer, founder of the digital media company, which specializes in in-game virtual currency.

“Now when you see the logo and you see the name, you get what it is right away.”

In June, the company held a contest via a Facebook app, challenging its clients to come up with a new moniker. “It helped us promote the new name and we figured who better to ask than our clients?” said Geer.

Once it had a new name, Play Money Media spent about eight weeks working on the logo and then started to build assets such as a new website.

Play Money Media, which essentially rewards gamers for engaging with advertisers in social and casual gaming, counts Rogers, Pepsi, Unilever, Scotiabank and Subway among its clients.
