Ogilvy Montreal puts new creative leadership in place

Gavin Drummond and Bernardo Andrada take on co-creative director roles

Ogilvy Montreal has tapped Bernardo Andrada to help lead the agency’s creative department along with co-creative director Gavin Drummond.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Andrada began his career in Canada with Ogilvy Montreal in 2007 as an art director. He temporarily left for a one-year stint with activation agency Geometry Global (previously OgilvyAction) — which has offices in the same Old Montreal building as Ogilvy Montreal — before rejoining the creative agency in January.

Drummond has been with Ogilvy for seven years, rising through the ranks from senior copywriter to being named creative director last July. Prior to Andrada’s hire, Drummond was sharing co-creative director duties with Martin Gosselin, partner and vice-president, creative at Ogilvy Montreal. Gosselin will continue to oversee the creative department, but leaves most of the day-to-day activities to Drummond and Andrada.

The co-creative directors will oversee accounts that include the Canadian Armed Forces, Health Canada and Port of Montreal. An upcoming national campaign for the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada will mark the first developed by the two co-creative directors.

“I get to work with a guy I trust and love to work with and has very complementary talents,” Drummond said of Andrada. “We see things in much the same way and I’ve been working with him off and on since he came from Rio.”

The decision to have co-CDs “reflects the ambition to grow the agency and get things going,” Drummond said. “We had a few people who left the creative department so we definitely want to keep pushing and performing for our clients.”

Ogilvy Montreal has around 40 employees.
