Garvie joins GroupM Canada. Smrczek joins Zulu. Wylie joins Play Money Media.
UK native STUART GARVIE will join GroupM Canada in the newly created position of chief commercial officer. He will work with the Canadian CEOs of GroupM’s four media networks – Maxus, MEC, MediaCom and Mindshare. Garvie’s appointment is effective May 1.
Zulu Alpha Kilo hired RON SMRCZEK as co-executive creative director. During his career, Smrczek has worked on major global brands including Nike, Viagra, Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Axe and Kraft. He will partner with the newly promoted SHANE OGILVIE as co-ECD, splitting up the agency’s accounts.
Porter Novelli Canada added two new employees to its Toronto office. PATTY CHORNENKY joined the consumer team as a consultant to work on P&G brands such as Duracell and Head & Shoulders. REENA KUDHAIL joined the health and wellness team as a senior consultant to work on the Pfizer Canada-EpiPen account.
Toronto’s Play Money Media appointed BRIAN WYLIE to the position of executive vice-president. He will be responsible for leading the company’s Canadian marketing activities, driving revenue through strategic partnerships and assisting with overall global development. He was recently with Scouts Canada as the director of partnerships, and PHD Canada as vice-president, client services director.
Toronto Life promoted two of its own and added one new member to its team. AMY EATON joined as creative marketing designer, urban group. She was previously a graphic designer with Reich+Petch Design International’s marketing team. YEN TRAN was promoted to senior marketing associate, urban group and CAROLINE KORYCKI was promoted to senior manager, marketing & partnerships.
