Rethink adds to its creative departments. Proximity Canada gains a community manager.

A recap of who’s headed where in Canadian marketing and communications.

Pelmorex Media Inc. appointed RON CLOSE president and CEO. He replaces Pierre L Morrissette, the company’s founder and controlling shareholder, who will continue as executive chairman of the board. Close has held several executive roles including president of Bell New Ventures and Co-Founder/CEO of Netcom Canada. He has also been a director on several boards including CTVglobemedia, The Globe and Mail and MaRS Innovation.

Rethink added two associate creative directors to its Toronto team and a creative director to its Vancouver office. MARK SCOTT joined the Toronto office from Union and Crispin Porter + Bogusky where he served as senior art director. MIKE DUBRICK was promoted to ACD after only a year as a member of the agency’s Toronto team. In Vancouver, STEVE COUSINS joined the team as CD from Soldier Design where he served as design director for two years.

MICHELE MCENERY joined CBC Radio-Canada Group as director, national and multiplatform sales in Toronto. McEnery will also continue her role as director, corporate affairs development for CBC/Radio-Canada, a position she has held since September 2010. McEnery has held positions at CTV, Canwest Global and Quebecor Media during her 30-year career.

MEGAN SIEGEL left Top Drawer Creative in Toronto after nearly two years and joined Proximity Canada as community manager. Siegel, who made Marketing’s first 30 Under 30 list of industry standouts, has also held positions at Canadian Living, Quarto Communications and Seacoast Entertainment Arts.

Dare Vancouver hired SARAH HANCOCK as head of production and creative resourcing. Hancock brings over 20 years experience to the role, having held positions at Getty Images, Luminous, VANOC, the Rick Hansen Foundation and Red Rocket Creative Strategies. She has also worked with brands such as Sony Music, Siemens and Penguin Books.

Twist Marketing hired MARK DIXON as senior marketing consultant. Dixon recently ran his own company, called Simply MARKeting and prior to that held director of marketing and public affairs roles at Alberta Health Services and Capital Health. He also held marketing and account management positions at NorQuest College and Palmer Jarvis DDB.

CAROLYN CONTOIS joined Entrinsic as executive director of client services from DDB Toronto where she held the position of VP, director integrated solutions. During her career, Contois has held positions at CP+B in Toronto, Three Drunk Monkeys in Sydney, TBWA/Chiat Day in Los Angeles and BBH in London and has worked on brands such as Cadbury, Sony Ericsson, Kraft, IKEA, Smirnoff, Visa and British Airways.

Toronto production house, Tattoo Sound + Music, added CLIVE DESMOND to its director roster. Desmond’s previous experience includes stints at Louder Music and Sound Design & Silent Joe.
