AARON STARKMAN has been promoted to chief creative officer and partner of Zig‘s Toronto agency. He replaces MARTIN BEAUVAIS who led the agency’s creative department since 2006 when he joined from BBDO Montreal. Starkman’s vacated creative director position remains unfilled for now.
STEVE MYKOLYN was named chief creative officer of Taxi Europe in Amsterdam, putting all of Taxi’s global creative departments under his purview. Mykolyn will report to Taxi chairman Paul Lavoie who held the CCO role in Amsterdam previously. Taxi Europe clients include Foot Locker, Heineken and ING.
Launch, a division of Consumer Impact Marketing (CIM), has promoted ROB ALEXIOU to creative director. He joined the agency as associate creative director in 2008,and has worked on PepsiCo, Colgate-Palmolive, Parmalat, RIM and SC Johnson brands. Alexiou has more than 18 years of industry experience having served as the chief innovation officer at Logosbrands and vice-president chief creative officer at Pigeon Branding and Design.
Edelman Toronto has added seven new members to its consumer marketing practice, and health and corporate and public affairs groups. ROSALIND O’CONNELL and JAMES BIGG join the health practice as account director and account manager, respectively. Joining the health and corporate and public affairs group are ERIN SUFRIN as account director, ALLISON DAISLEY as senior account manager, ROHINI MUKHERJI as account manager and CAMILLE KOWALEWSKI and MICHELLE ELMALEH who join as senior account executives.
Newad welcomes back two former employees–DAVID VANCE as senior account executive and FREDERIC TURGEON as director, client relations. Vance started his sales career at Newad in 2000, but left in 2007 for Media Alternative where he was responsible for the organization’s OOH digital and office tower networks. He also worked at Rouge Media Group as the director of sales. Turgeon joined Newad in 2001 as an account executive and was later promoted to director of sales, Eastern Canada. In 2007, he left for Effix Marketing where he worked as an account executive, corporate sales with clients like the Montreal Canadiens.
St. John’s agency Target has expanded its web team by hiring MATT TUCKER as its Internet marketing account manager. Tucker has been running his own web, graphic and multimedia design company, managing website development and branding projects for clients like The Nunatsiavut Government, Academy Canada, Husky Energy, and the Department of Environment and Conservation.
NICOLAS VAN ERUM will join Montreal digital agency CloudRaker as vice-president and partner on Monday, after two years at BleuBlancRouge where he most recently served as executive vice-president.
Northstar Research hired STEPHAN SIGAUD as executive vice-president, corporate development. Sigaud’s responsibilities include developing the firm’s go-to-market strategy and expanding its suite of offerings. He joins the firm from Harris Interactive, where he headed the advertising, brand, loyalty, product and qualitative research divisions. In his new role, Sigaud will report to Northstar’s president and CEO Stephen Tile.
