CBC named TREVOR WALTON executive director, commissioned and scripted programming. He takes over for Phyllis Platt who held the position on an interim basis since March. Walton was most recently head of co-productions at Echo Bridge Entertainment and has held several senior positions in the broadcast industry including stints at Witzend Productions in the U.K. and Fox Network and CBS in the United States.
AOL Canada promoted MARYSE HUET into a sales role, supporting French Canada and reporting to Dana Toering, director of sales and business development. Huet spent the last three years with AOL Canada as account management director.
After nearly three years with BBDO Toronto/Proximity, SHARI BALGA left her post as agency media relations and corporate communications manager to join the Ontario Centres of Excellence in a media relations role.
GEOFF MORGAN joined Dentsu Canada as senior writer and will work on the Sapporo, Sleeman and Toyota accounts. Morgan was most recently at Taxi and has also held positions at Cossette and Zig (now Crispin Porter + Bogusky).
TERRY G. FOSTER was named president of Cision Canada, a provider of PR software, services and tools. Foster has held senior level positions with public relations and marketing services companies both in Canada and abroad. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council and the Software and Information Industry Association.
BBC.com appointed REESHMA ESMAIL to vice-president, head of digital ad sales for BBC.com and Lonelyplanet.com. Esmail will oversee the digital ad sales strategy in Canada, working from the BBC Worldwide Canada office in Toronto. During her 10 year career, Esmail has held sales positions at Adconion, Olive Media and Suite 66.
