A recap of who’s headed where in Canadian marketing and communications.

MediaCom Canada hired MATT DI PAOLA as chief strategy and innovation officer, a newly created position within the agency. Di Paola spent the last four years at Proximity Canada where he was senior vice-president and managing director. He has also held management roles at Leo Burnett and Tribal DDB.

JODIE CARLISLE is the new director of client services at Copeland Communications, a full service ad agency in Victoria, B.C. Carlisle was most recently a national marketing manager at Connect Hearing, which is one of Copeland’s clients.

BLAKE ATKINSON joined Spider Marketing Solutions as creative director, replacing Craig Jenkins who left the Toronto-based agency in May. Atkinson was hired by Spider as a freelancer to help with several projects before he was given full-time status. Atkinson was has also worked at Pebble Interactive, Draft/FCB, Cossette and Quadrant.

Zoom Media appointed CATHY FERNANDES president and chief operating officer. Fernandes was most recently VP, sales and marketing and GM at Rogers Media’s BV! Media. Prior to that, she was VP, national sales at Quebecor Media. She will work out of Zoom Media’s Toronto office.

Cohn & Wolfe Montreal appointed ALEXANDRE DUMAS to the position of director of public and corporate affairs to liaise with the media and provide spokesperson training, public speaking coaching and media interaction training. Dumas was previously a newscaster at Radio-Canada and RDI, and president of production company Jadcom Media Council.
