A recap of who’s headed where in Canadian marketing and communications.

MediaCom Canada hired TRAVIS ST. DENIS as its director of engagement planning, a newly created position within the agency. Prior to joining MediaCom, St. Denis served as a marketing strategy and analysis manager at SapientNitro, working on the Activision, Powerade and Chrysler brands. He also teaches interactive marketing part-time at Centennial College.

JULIA JOHNSTON joined National Public Relations as the new vice-president and corporate practice lead for its Toronto Office. Most recently, Johnston was the co-founder and CEO of mEgo, a Los Angeles-based social media company that specializes in virtual brand marketing and development. She was also senior vice-president, business development for PCCW in the UK.

Inventa hired WILF GOODMAN as its general manger to oversee day-to-day operations. Goodman spent the last 13 years with Consumer Impact Marketing (CIM) holding partner and executive vice-president positions.

Kia Canada appointed CATHY LAROCHE as public relations manager, reporting to JACK SULYMKA, national marketing manager. Laroche has been with Kia since 2008, and was previously assistant public relations manager.

AARON STARKMAN, who left Crispin Porter + Bogusky in November, joined Rethink’s Toronto office as partner and creative director. He will work on all of the agency’s accounts, including Bell Canada, Sobey’s, A&W Foods and Molson Canadian.

Olive Media added two new members to its team and promoted one of its own. ANDREW WICKEN joined the company as VP, strategy and operations, while FUNKE FABUNMI started as head of ad operations. MLADEN RAICKOVIC was promoted to the newly created role of general manager, data-driven media.

RYAN TROTMAN joined Rogers Digital Media, Publishing as senior director and publisher, responsible for the strategy, operations and overall fiscal business management of Rogers Digital Media’s Publishing portfolio. During his career he has worked at Bell Media, AOL, MSN, and the Toronto Star.
