On the move: New hires at Media Profile, Strut, John St.

STEVE HARDY joined the account planning team at Strut Creative after three years as marketing director for Strut’s mobile internal communications system, RallyEngine. Hardy is a popular marketing blogger and has spent much of the last decade working on marketing and business development for tech startups like Nudgemail, WowWee and Airborne Mobile. In the past he has been business director for Maisonneuve magazine and an account manager for Parallel Strategies (now Trigger Communications). He will continue to lead marketing at RallyEngine in addition to his new role at Strut.

Media Profile hired CAITIE WALLMAN as senior consultant and KATHERINE SHEPPARD as account coordinator. Wallman worked as both an account manager and consultant at Paradigm; at Media Profile she’ll work with clients Starbucks and Cancer Care Ontario. Sheppard, a recent PR graduate of Durham Collgee, will work on Abbvie, CIBC Team Next and AutoTrader. The agency also made seven internal promotions: JERI BROWN, SCOTT TABER and SHERLINE JOE are now account directors after each spending more than six years with the agency; GINGER SHEWELL and STEPHANIE MUSTACHI are senior consultants, and SARAH FOURNIER and WENDY MANTON are now consultants.

John St. brought on TOM ST. JOHN to lead digital services. St. John is a serial website founder and business manager, having co-launched graduate work placement search tool InternItUp.com, beauty e-commerce portal Makeup.com and video search engine SearchForVideo.com. Most recently he founded a content analytics platform, Kontexto, that’s used by media companies like Postmedia, The Guardian and Getty Images. In the newly created position at John St, St. John will assist clients in applying marketing analytics, social measurement, branded content, mobile and online video campaigns.

Corus Media promoted BRIGITTE VINCENT to VP of programming for Historia and Series+ channels. Vincent has been director of original productions and Canadian acquisitions for the channel group since 2008.

La Presse promoted PIERRE-ELLIOTT LEVASSEUR to the newly created position of chief operating officer. Over ten years with the company, Levasseur has held various senior roles, rising to EVP in 2011. He helped develop and launch the La Presse+ tablet experience. As COO he will oversee La Presse’s revenue, finance, digital products and IT operations, and will play a supporting role in the organization’s business strategy and the commercialization of La Presse+.

RBC hired JOHN SLIGHTE as manager of enterprise social media. Slighte comes from North Strategic, where he spent four years focused on social media as a senior account manager. He’s also worked at Strategic Objectives and Social Media Group.

Brandfire Marketing brought on TAYLOR FERRI as social media manager. Ferri comes from Evageline, where she focused on community management. She has also worked for Environics and Edelman.
