On the Move: New hires at UM, Microsoft, Leon’s and Knot PR

UM hired two Canadian VPs, KATE MATEER and BEN SEATON, and promoted a third, BAILEY WILSON. Mateer, who comes from Starcom MediaVest, will lead the Johnson & Johnson and Hershey accounts for UM, while Seaton, who was most recently with Nike and before that Coca-Cola, will manage client services for Boston Pizza and AB InBev. Wilson joined UM in 2008 from Cossette Media, and as VP investments will lead the investment team.

Microsoft Advertising hired EMILY CLAREY as account executive in Toronto. Clarey comes from Postmedia, where she was a digital sales strategist. She has also worked for Sun Media. At Microsoft she’ll work on building the company’s business in multi-screen and personalized advertising products.

Saatchi & Saatchi promoted two VP group creative directors, MATT ANTONELLO and JOEL ARBEZ. The creative duo came to Saatchi Canada a year ago — Arbez from Rethink and Antonello from DDB — and have since worked on campaigns for Toyota, GasX and Proud FM. In addition to their group CD titles, Arbez will take on the role of VP head of art, while Antonello will be VP new business development.

Knot PR rebranded as The Knot Group, and brought on a new partner, HILARY BONEBAKKER, to lead its event planning and management division. Bonebakker previously worked on events and experiential marketing at Right to Play, Mirrorball and the Guggenheim in New York.

Leon’s brought on ANDREA GRAHAM to lead its brand marketing efforts, with the unusual title of “Brand Poobah! of Marketing.” Graham comes from a background in CPG and QSR marketing, having been CMO of KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell, as well as a top marketing executive at Canada Bread, Laura Secord, PepsiCo and Kraft.
