When it rains, it pours for The BrainStorm Group. The Toronto-based agency has signed on as the agency of record for three new clients this month.

“January’s not always a great month in the agency business so this is fantastic,” says Bob Froese, BrainStorm’s president.

Outback Steakhouse tapped BrainStorm to oversee its Canadian business and growth strategy. The restaurant chain currently has 13 locations in Canada.

While no plans have been finalized, Froese says Outback’s messaging may change in response to strong category competition from The Keg, which has “really gone a long way to up their delivery.”

The second new addition to the agency’s client roster is EPI International, a global investment syndicate based in United Arab Emirates.

While BrainStorm has an office in Dubai, the account will be serviced from Toronto. The agency will be growing EPI International’s brand in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Brainstorm opened in the UAE in 2006 by partnering with Dubai-based E Media, which is currently being rebranded as The BrainStorm Group Dubai. Froese says about 10% of the agency’s total billings now come from the 15-person Dubai office, which currently has five clients.

Brainstorm’s third new client is Shandiz Natural Foods, a Markham, Ont.-based maker of organic snack bars. The brand is distributed in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
