The Quebecor-owned QMI Agency has been selected as Pattison Outdoor Advertising’s main content provider for its network of digital signage.

The newswire service is supplying bilingual news coverage to Pattison’s screens, which span across Canada. QMI is delivering more than 120 articles each day.

Canadian Press was Pattison Outdoor’s previous provider.

Cam Milne, general manager of Pattison OneStop, told Marketing that current news stories and photos will now appear on Pattison screens at all times. “This relationship between a leading national print/web publisher and an outdoor company is a first,” he said.

The core strategy behind the partnership with QMI Agency was “to work with an agency which had the ability to provide, create and gather meaningful news content on a localized level,” said Milne.

The content will be displayed on 887 screens in office tower elevators across Canada to begin with, said Milne, adding that the network should top 1,000 screens by Q2 of 2013.

Pattison is also launching a new iteration of its digital content platform. The updated version features a new design that enables Pattison to put out a greater volume of local stories and visual elements.

A division of The Jim Pattison Group, Pattison Outdoor is based in Mississauga and has 25 national sales offices to support its outdoor, transit and digital advertising.
