Pattison Outdoor Advertising has been awarded the contract for the Halifax Regional Municipality’s Metro Transit service, which includes interior and exterior bus advertising, as well as ferry terminal poster advertising. The five-year contract takes effect Feb. 1.

Pattison will sell advertising on more than 250 buses, plus posters at three commuter ferry terminals around Halifax Harbour.

Three other firms, including incumbent Day Nite Signs, responded to an RFP issued by the Halifax Regional Municipality in July, with Pattison awarded the contract earlier this month. CBS Outdoor continues to hold the city’s transit shelter contract, while Creative Outdoor oversees its bus bench advertising.

“Pattison is extremely excited about winning this business,” says Sherry Kirwin, Pattison’s general manager, Maritimes. “In the Maritime market, it’s a big win for us. We were limited to billboard advertising and mall advertising in Halifax, but now we’ve got a big client base and a lot more product.” The company plans to add one more sales position and an administrative position at its Halifax office.

Pattison has been selling out-of-home advertising in Halifax since 1998. The Oakville, Ont.-based company also has transit contracts in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa.
