Sid Lee’s Philippe Meunier has been named president of the Art Director’s Club (ADC) board of directors.
Meunier, co-founder and creative chief of Sid Lee, succeeds Barbarian Group co-founder and chairman Benjamin Palmer, who had held the role since 2008.
As president, Meunier has been tasked with making the ADC a more multidisciplinary organization. In a release, Meunier said the ad industry should not be broken into separate disciplines. He wants the ADC to be a reflection of that belief.
“The ADC is an institution that does not only help enable creative careers, it also connects them to their surrounding environments,” he said. “To do so, it’s essential we embrace creativity in all its forms and remain open to all creative disciplines.”
ADC executive director Ignacio Oreamuno echoed his sentiment, adding that as an agency, Sid Lee rejects the idea that ad disciplines should be siloed, an ethos he’d like to see across the ADC.
“Sid Lee is an exemplary model of the agency of the future that the ADC is fighting for,” Oreamuno said, “meaning it’s an agency that doesn’t differentiate between design, experiential or traditional.”
The non-profit organization has worked with Meunier and his agency several times. Most recently, Sid Lee designed the ADC’s new branding and the ADC Awards traveling exhibition, a showcase that shows the best work from the ADC’s various award shows.
