The 2011 New York Festivals (NYF) Radio Program and Promotion Awards recognized its “World’s Best Radio Programs” winners this week at a gala in New York.
The annual awards honour international creative radio broadcasting. Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies were presented, as well as three Grand Trophies.
One of the Grand Trophies went to Canada’s Pirate Group Inc., which won for “Age of Persuasion Goes to the Movies” in the Business/Consumer Issues category. “Age of Persuasion” is a weekly CBC Radio show about the advertising industry, hosted by Terry O’Reilly.
Pirate also took home a new award introduced at this year’s NYF’s radio awards: “Production Company of the Year.” The company also nabbed one Gold, one Bronze and two Silver awards.

– CBC: three Golds, six Silvers and six Bronzes
– Battery Radio: one Gold
– Sarah Boothroyd: one Gold
– Sound Venture Productions: one Gold
– The Canadian Press: one Silver
– Corus Radio Toronto: one Bronze
– Kris Ferguson, Glenn Knight: one Bronze
In total, 36 Gold, 42 Silver and 46 Bronze trophies were given to winners from around the world. There were also 59 finalist certificates (seven of which went to Canadian entries).
