Outside of the journalism world, the Quebec Press Council is little known. Publicis Montreal has been asked to change that as the watchdog’s new creative agency.
The agency is now readying a multiplatform awareness campaign set to launch soon across la Belle Province.
”The Publicis Montreal team has demonstrated a precise comprehension of the mandate and have proposed simple and pertinent creative solutions to demystify our role,” said Julien Acosta, director of communications at the Quebec Press Council, in a release.
The Quebec Press Council was founded in 1973 and is now headed by John H. Gomery, the judge who famously investigated the Sponsorship scandal. Its board of directors, which analyzes complaints about printed and electronic media, comprises press organization members, journalists and representatives from the public. It has adjudicated more than 2,000 complaints since its creation. It is also mandated to protect the freedom of press and defend Quebecers’ right to quality reporting.
