Ray wins ICE Best of Show with Opera on the Avalon

Year-old agency takes top prize in Halifax

It’s a heck of an anniversary present: Ray, the year-old creative agency in St. John’s, has won Best of Show at this year’s ICE Awards for its work with Opera on the Avalon.

The ICE Awards celebrates Atlantic Canada’s best marketing across a number of categories.

Ray’s “Newfoundland Gets It” promoted the St. John’s opera company with radio, OOH and non-traditional elements.

“Winning at ICE is the perfect end to an incredible first year for Ray,” said Jenny Smith, Ray’s president and creative director, in a statement. “I am forever grateful for our amazing clients like Opera on the Avalon and my passionate, hard working team. I can hardly wait to see what year two brings. Exciting times. No pressure!”

The campaign also won gold in two Public Service categories (Integrated and Radio), and additional awards in in Public Service’s Print/Out-Of-Home Campaign and Single contests.

Thirty-four gold and silver awards were handed out at the ICE Awards Gala on Oct. 2. All category winners – including the awards of merit and five Craft winners – can be viewed online, but here’s an at-a-glance list of the gold winners.
