The Toronto Port Authority (TPA) is getting a brand makeover thanks to a brand redevelopment by Toronto-based Ariad Communications.

Ariad won the business with “their clear process, strategic approach and their experience in developing and refining other world class brands,” Suzanna Birchwood, TPA director of public affairs, said in a release. Ariad works with brands including Becel, Knorr and Popsicle.

As part of the brand redevelopment, Ariad has been tasked with better articulating the TPA brand to the TPA’s stakeholders and refining its brand promise and identity. A new strategic marketing plan for TPA will come from said brand plan.

The revitalized customer experience will be especially helpful given the upcoming Pan Am Games in 2015.

Referencing the “tremendous waterfront assets” that the TPA holds, Ariad vice-president Marnie Kramarich said the work with TPA is an opportunity to articulate the potential of the TPA brand.

TPA owns and operates the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, terminals 51 and 52 at Port of Toronto, as well as the Outer Harbour Marina.
