Isobar Canada has hired digital veteran Mike Sharma as senior vice-president and managing director.

Sharma comes to Isobar Canada from Society, etc., the firm he started late in 2010. He has also held senior leadership roles at MSN Canada and led digital teams at Cossette and Zig.

In addition to leading the Isobar Canada group, Sharma will also work with fellow Aegis Group agencies Carat and Vizeum. He cited this collaborative opportunity as one of the key reasons he left behind his own startup firm to take the job.

“Because Isobar is part of Aegis Media, there are some fantastic synergies, particularly in the digital landscape,” said Sharma.

Sharma said he was also looking to boost Isobar’s profile in Canada.

“Isobar doesn’t really have a name for itself right now in this market. It’s very well known around the world but really isn’t known in Canada,” he said. “To me, that presented a very unique opportunity – to take something that has this global prowess and is well recognized and bring it to the Canadian marketplace.”

Sharma takes over a position that had been vacant since the departure of Matt Carter earlier this year.
