The former co-general managers of Edelman Vancouver have new national roles within Edelman Canada. Patti Schom-Moffatt was recently appointed chief client officer for Edelman Canada following Paul Welsh‘s appointment to chief commercial officer in January.
Schom-Moffatt founded Vancouver-based Karyo Communications in 1983. Edelman bought controlling interest of the agency in 2007 and Schom-Moffatt and Welsh stayed on as co-general managers.
Edelman took full control of the Vancouver office in June 2012 and new roles were sought for the GMs. “We both had said at the end of the five years, we wanted a different role and a different opportunity than running the Vancouver office,” said Welsh.
In her new role, Schom-Moffatt will be lead strategist for clients that require a national effort, and work on bringing clients in the global Edelman network to Canada.
“Patti is a true rock star in this business,” said John Clinton, Edelman Canada CEO, in a release. “Not only has she built a highly successful company from scratch but, after joining the Edelman family, she drove it to unprecedented heights, furthering clients’ business, providing hands-on mentorship, setting lofty quality standards, and constantly exceeding expectations. I am very excited to see what she will accomplish in her new role.”
As chief commercial officer, Welsh works directly with Edelman’s leadership team on new business opportunities, mergers and acquisitions and new and enhanced service offerings.
Edelman Vancouver, the largest PR agency in B.C., boasts 49 employees and more than $7 million in revenue.
In April, Edelman Canada hired Kim Peacock as the new general manager of Edelman West, which includes the Vancouver and Calgary offices. Peacock was formerly director of global marketing at Hoot Suite Media Inc.
