With just days left in 2011, Marketing is busy getting ready for one of the industry’s biggest events of the year: the 2012 Marketing Awards.

“The Marketing Awards turn 90 in 2012, a milestone we’re very proud of,” said Marketing publisher Lucy Collin. “But we don’t want to act 90 years old, so we have a number of very big changes planned to make sure the Marketing Awards remain as relevant and important as ever.”

To help drive those changes, Marketing is thrilled to have two of the industry’s brightest minds as co-chairs for 2012: Andrew Simon, chief creative officer at Blammo Worldwide, and Eva Van den Bulke, creative and partner at Sid Lee.

The pair will oversee jury selection and judging for the awards and provide guidance and insight into some of those other big changes… which will be announced early in the new year.

“We knew Andrew has an amazing creative record and was a fantastic contributor to last year’s judging,” said Marketing editor Tom Gierasimczuk. “But what really put him over the top was when we checked his Twitter profile and found out he was ‘Once named Jewish Athlete of the Week in the Jewish News.’”

Van den Bulcke has been one of the creative forces at Sid Lee during its rise to prominence in Canada, and indeed the world. “And when we asked for recommendations from some of our trusted sources in Quebec, Eva was also one of the first names mentioned,” said Gierasimczuk. “We knew she was perfect for the job.”

The 2012 Marketing Awards entry window will open Jan. 30, with the gala booked for June 8 at Toronto’s Carlu. Keep checking Marketing Daily for updates on the jury and further surprise announcements for 2012.
