Veritas Communications has been chosen as Square One Shopping Centre’s PR agency of record.

The mall, located west of Toronto, covers 1.8 million square feet and houses more than 360 retailers.

It is presently going through a $320-million transformation that its marketing director, Elena Price, called its “most dramatic renovation to date” in a release. As the renovation is revealed this fall, Veritas will “help us go new places from an influencer marketing standpoint,” said Price, which will involve launching and promoting retail brands using activation of key influencers and brand ambassadors.

The RFP process lasted two months and five agencies were invited to take part. PR had been handled by Price internally since April 2012.

Owned by Alberta Investment Management Corporation and Oxford Properties Group (the latter of which also manages the mall), Square One offers a mix of retailers, cinemas and restaurants.

Owned by MDC Partners, Toronto-based Veritas Communications includes Target, McCain and Subway among its clients.
