The move to Cossette concludes Groh’s two-year tenure as VP, group account director at Bensimon Byrne, overseeing the Toronto agency’s Scotiabank account.

Prior to that, Groh held a similar title at BBDO Toronto, overseeing the Mercedes-Benz, FedEx and Bayer accounts.

“Steve is one of those exceptional talents who will bring incredible depth and professionalism to our national brand team,” said Dave Lafond, president of Cossette’s Canadian operations, in a statement.

The agency has already made a handful of HR announcements in 2015 across its Canadian network. Earlier this month, it announced the promotion of Michael Milardo as CD in Vancouver alongside several new hires, and James Bibby’s hiring as the director of strategic technology in Toronto.

“I am a great believer in culture and in team, and there’s something powerful happening here within the Cossette culture,” said Groh.

“Integrated marketing is about teamwork and in getting all your strengths working together so that you truly become the sum of the parts. Bringing all disciplines together, working as a great team, is when you achieve the greatest communications impact.”

Cossette was recently acquired by China’s BlueFocus Communications.
