Music streaming service Deezer has selected Strategic Objectives as its PR agency of record advance of its official launch in Canada next month.
Deezer, which is based in France, is a global music streaming service available in 182 markets worldwide. It currently has three million subscribers worldwide.
Strategic Objectives will steer a national traditional and social media engagement campaign and influencer programs, as well as foster partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
Justin Erdman, managing director at Deezer Canada, said the company had discussions with five PR agencies before deciding on Strategic Objectives. He said the PR agency won the business based on its enthusiasm, experience with consumer brands and keen interest in music.
“Strategic Objectives stood out because they came to the table already prepared to be the fifth Beatle,” Erdman said. “They were willing to be a part of our team, and they were music fans.”
Deezer Canada will officially launch at Toronto’s annual North by Northeast music festival, which takes place June 10 – 16. The company has been named the Official Streaming Partner for the festival.
As a result, the company has exclusive rights to stream live content from the Deezer Presents main stage performances. On-site, they will have access to an activation area for consumer engagement, stage signage and branding, a VIP hospitality section, and logo presence on all of NXNE materials.
Toronto-based Strategic Objectives will work with Deezer to spread the word about new technology and music news, which most recently includes an announcement of a new Deezer Windows 8 app; an upgrade to the Deezer iOS app to include smart caching; and the Deezer app being included in Google’s enhanced search function.
