Mike Sutton, who has been Zulu Alpha Kilo‘s managing director for the past three years, has been named president of the Toronto agency.

In making the announcement, agency founder Zak Mroueh said he will add CEO to his own existing title of current chief creative officer.

Mroueh said the shift will free him from operational responsibilities and allow him to focus on the agency’s creative work.

“Some of the day-to-day operational things are not the things that get me jazzed,” Mroueh said. “I really want to focus on the things that excite me – ideas, working with clients.”

While Sutton’s promotion has been in the works for about a month, Mroueh said he’s long planned to make him president.  “I always knew from day one that he would be my successor,” he said. “And the time has come.”

In a statement, Sutton said that “having Zak freed up is a huge win, especially for our clients.” Both changes will take effect immediately.

Prior to joining Zula Alpha Kilo, he was an associate partner and head of client services at Grip Limited.

Zulu Alpha Kilo opened in Toronto in 2008. Clients of the agency include Bell Canada, Audi Canada, Coca-Cola Canada, Modelo Molson Imports and Service Inspired Restaurants.
