Does your workplace have Segways to get from one part of the office to another? Or beach volleyball courts? Or 200 goats that fertilize the grounds?
Didn’t think so.
But Googleplex, Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, Cali., does.
And if you attend Digital Day 2011 on Monday, Nov. 7, you could win the chance to tour the famous office in person.
Adam Green, agency sales partner at Google Canada and a member of this year’s Digital Day committee, said up to 10 people will get a chance to go on the coveted campus tour, which will be led by a “Googler.”
The tour, said Green, will likely involve the winners riding bikes around the sprawling campus – the “G bike” program began in 2007 with 650 bikes for employees to get around and has grown since then – and lunch at Charlie’s or one of the other more than 25 cafes at the campus that serve everything from hot breakfasts to sushi. (Meals are free for employees, by the way.)
There’ll also be the chance to sit down and speak with Googlers from different parts of the company.
Wendy Rozeluk, communications manager for Canada at Google, said while Googleplex is filled with fun activities, they have a purpose in that they help foster collaboration and sharing ideas. “That’s where great ideas come from,” she said. “There’s a real energy [at Googleplex] that doesn’t seem to exist anywhere else I’ve ever been.”
The tour is one component of the overall prize, which Green said is a multi-faceted trip to San Francisco and the Bay area.
Flights to San Francisco, transportation to Mountain View and one night of accommodation will be covered by a sponsor for each winner.
