To encourage people having financial difficulty to visit their local TD branch, TD Canada Trust launched a new website Wednesday called TD Helps.

The site features videos of TD employees telling stories of how they helped clients facing financial hardship.

The site, TDCanadaTrust.com/tdhelps, is designed to remind visitors that many people go through financial difficulties, and let them know TD can help.

The top of the homepage includes the large headline “Let’s figure it out” beside TD’s iconic green chair.

In one video, president and CEO Tim Hockey says, “It’s difficult for people to come in and ask for help, but we’re here to listen. And we would really encourage our customers to come in and talk to us as early as they feel comfortable doing so.”

The site was inspired by TD’s intranet site where employees share client stories, explained Hockey, in a release.

Earlier this year the bank introduced an internal program educating employees on the problems many clients are having. Then, TD decided if it shared those insights with the public, they might be able to solve financial problems sooner. “We thought and hoped that a lot of our customers would identify with some of the situations our employees have helped with, and that their stories would encourage people to come sooner and see us,” said Hockey.

In another video a TD employee recalls helping a married couple who had both maxed-out a stack of credit cards.

“I really felt there was a real opportunity to help them to feel better in their circumstances, that there was hope,” he said. “We consolidated all of the cards and then moved balances from these higher interest rate cards to a much lower interest rate cards so we could save them literally hundreds of dollars.”

TD is also hoping customers give feedback under the videos in the comments section. “Customers are going to be able to share their thoughts about the videos and the stories our employees are telling and we are eager to hear what they have to say,” said Hockey.
