Twist Marketing to open Toronto office

With clients moving east and knowledge of the oil and gas sector, Twist looks to T.O.

Edmonton-based Twist Marketing is expanding to Toronto, the agency’s fourth location in Canada, it was announced Tuesday.

Melissa Gallagher

Twist also announced the appointment of Melissa Gallagher to the position of vice-president, Ontario. Gallagher – who most recently served as account director at Cundari – will be responsible for developing the Toronto office and managing current and new clients.

Darren Baumgardner, the agency’s president, said the company is currently looking for office space and is “starting to ramp things up with our momentum in Ontario.

“We’ve been dealing with several Eastern-based clients and.. we have some Alberta and British Columbia-based clients who are in the works of moving out to the Eastern part of Canada. So we’ve got momentum going from both sides and the timing is right to open an office.”

Baumgardner wouldn’t name any of Twist’s Toronto clients because most are still in the process of moving to Ontario. “That’s a big part of the reason for opening an office and there are a few things in the works,” he said.

“There’s a lot of people in Eastern Canada providing services to the oil and gas sector in Alberta,” Baumgardner said. “It gives us a great opportunity to help those clients understand some of the local needs out here and deal with some of the local nuances. So that’s going to be a big part of our strategy: the ability to support Eastern Canada businesses who are doing business out west.”

Founded 12 years ago, Twist specializes in destination marketing and corporate branding and has offices in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.
