Twist Marketing wins multiple Alberta tourism accounts

Twist is all over the map in Western Canada

Twist Marketing is all over the map in Western Canada, winning tourism and branding assignments for several Alberta cities.

The City of Medicine Hat awarded the tourism component of its strategic development plan to Twist, which was also awarded the second phase of a branding project conducted by the Medicine Hat Tourism Group, a separate agency that is part of the Southeast Development Group.

The agency is also set to create a new brand for the County of Strathcona, which includes smaller communities near Edmonton.

Keith Crush, business development officer for the City of Medicine Hat, said choosing Twist created synergies with the branding initiative undertaken by the Medicine Hat Tourism Group. “Branding is typically one component of a tourism development plan, so there is a healthy cross-over between the two initiatives.”

The contract with Medicine Hat Tourism is for phase two of their branding project. Twist completed the research phase of that same project earlier this year.

For Strathcona County, Twist will help shape the its brand strategy and develop “a refreshed logo and identity,” said Carmen Herbers, director of communications for the county.

The three assignments enhance Twist’s growing expertise in destination marketing, said Catherine Proulx, Twist’s managing director.

Among the agency’s other clients are the towns of Carstairs and Chestermere, also in Alberta, Castlegar, Lillooet the District of Elkford in B.C.

“Destination marketing has grown significantly for us and now represents about 60% of our business,” said Proulx.
