The second “Art from the Unexpected” charity fundraiser – developed by Ad Lounge with sponsor support from TC Media – earned $22,000 for Sketch, an organization that works with street-involved youth.
The event was held at Steam Whistle Brewing earlier this month. More than 300 industry folks and their families came out to show their support and open their wallets for the cause, said Ad Lounge founder Trina Boos.
“It was a huge success. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but it was a really unique event for the industry to take part in that wasn’t an awards show or a conference,” she said.
Media and marketing professionals were given six weeks to create original art pieces, and one minute at the event to describe and explain their creation before a silent auction.
The first “Art from the Unexpected” event took place in 2009, and brought in $20,000 for Sketch.
