Jim Warrington, formerly of Fantail Communications, has been named executive director of the National Advertising Benevolent Society of Canada (NABS).
Warrington will assume a new role at the industry’s career and crisis counseling organization on April 1.
“I am delighted that our organization has been able to add such a talented and respected veteran to lead the strategic initiatives that we’ll implement this year,” said Brent Bernie, NABS board chair, in a release.
“More programs, services and financial/volunteering opportunities are planned and NABS will be able to expand on its ability to address the significant growing need for assistance.”
Warrington told Marketing he plans to be “very visible” as he expands NABS’ footprint beyond the creative agency outreach for which it is largely known. “You’re going to see us become active in digital, in public relations and other disciplines within marketing.”
Fantail, Warrington’s brand and communication consultancy, has gone into what Warrington calls “sleep mode.” Its clients (Warrington would not specify numbers or names) have been transitioned to former employees.
The executive director role is new to NABS. Mike Fenton had similar responsibilities as president and CEO, but has been transitioning out of those responsibilities since announcing his departure last October.
At that time, NABS’ board identified four priorities for future growth, allotting responsibility for raising the brand’s profile and managing its business office to the newly formed executive director role. To address other priorities, the organization appointed Phil Goodwin as its director of sales and hired Louise Berube as its director of allocations.
