John Lewis unveils its Christmas campaign

British retailer John Lewis forgoes the cute and cuddly characters of Christmas campaigns pastĀ and opts for a concept that’s a little out of this world.

The retailer launched its highly-anticipated Christmas commercial, from Adam&Eve DDB London, Friday morning featuring a little girl who becomes obsessed with watching a man on the moon through her telescope. Determined to brighten his day, she tries endlessly to send the man a gift.

The retailer’s Christmas campaigns have become a landmark media event in recent years, and this year’s advert is no different. As of Friday afternoon the video had garnered more than 2.2 million views on YouTube.

In the past, John Lewis campaigns have spanned multiple channels including in-store merchandise, experiential and even songs on iTunes. It will be interesting to see what the retailerĀ has in store this year.
