Some campaigns get so big they become an avalanche, pulling in entities beyond the brand as they sprawl out and become a phenomenon. Such is the case with the Toronto Raptors‘ “We The North” campaign, which has its finger prints all over two ads released this week. The first, Sport Chek‘s #MyNorth, Marketing covered extensively. The second is this TSN-produced spot for the broadcaster.
The ad takes on the same spoken anthem format as “We The North,” a tagline that’s become a rallying cry. Like the Raptors ad, the TSN spot celebrates hometown pride, but widens the definition, suggesting the Raptors are not only Toronto’s team, but also Canada’s. And – no surprise here – ends with a waving flag carrying the former’s tagline in crisp black and white.
