Calgary’s Wax Partnership is closing a solid calendar year with a handful of significant client wins including the Honda Prairie Dealers Association and international oilfield services group Calmena Energy Services.

Joe Hosporadec, executive creative director for Wax, said the Honda account is a “significant” piece of business. “We are agency of record for 32 dealers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and our first campaign for them will be coming out in the new year.”

Calgary-based Calmena, meanwhile, selected Wax as its agency of record, replacing former agency Rare Method, also of Calgary, “because they had a very collaborative approach,” explained Dixie Bennett, global marketing representative for the company.

“We went through an organization change earlier this year to create a more international focus and Wax will be helping us with this,” Bennett said. The company has operations in North and South America, the Middle East and North Africa.

Wax also recently won Bridgewater Bank, a subsidiary of the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) that has operations across Canada, and Concorde Entertainment, which operates several of Calgary’s restobars and lounges.

Hosporadec said despite the sluggish economic recovery, the agency experienced a “steady upward growth curve” and increased its staff from 30 to 34 during the year. Hosporadec is optimistic about 2011, saying that as the economy continues to improve “people are getting their confidence back.”
