After a recent review of its creative and media accounts, the Vancouver-based restaurant chain White Spot has appointed TBWA\Vancouver and Taylor Made Media to the portfolios, respectively.

“We went through a process over the last couple of months to find someone who could really help us on the strategic planning and development side of things and look at our promotions from that point of view, as well as a media buying service,” said Warren Erhart, president of White Spot.

Founded in 1928, White Spot operates 119 full service restaurants and burger restaurants under the Triple O banner across B.C., Alberta and Asia.

Erhart said the company continues to undertake substantial market research to deal with the challenge of staying relevant to its broad consumer base, which he said includes “everybody from seniors all the way down to kids,” as well as being open for all three meal times, “but we also have a pretty active business with late night and take out as well.”

For the last couple of years Chuck Currie, White Spot’s executive chef has been featured in the television commercials along with guest celebrity chefs as part of the “Fresh Thinking, Fresh Cooking” campaign by Wasserman + Partners Advertising, which had been the chain’s creative agency for the past 12 years.

“It got people thinking about White Spot, and having [famous chefs] in our restaurants and endorsing White Spot was quite unique,” Erhart said.
