Considering next week is the busiest travel week of the year at Toronto Pearson International Airport, it’s a prime opportunity to catch the attention of throngs of travelers.
At least that’s the thinking behind a current Microsoft holiday activation at the airport that will run until Dec. 23. Travelers going through terminals one and three on domestic flights can visit “Picture Perfect Holiday” booths as part of a Windows’ year-end campaign.
The idea is to help families stay in touch over this festive time of year. Inside the roughly 15-square-foot booths, travelers can have their photo taken for free with a Windows Holiday Elf against a winter backdrop. (Fun fact: Canadian rapper Drake has stopped by to have his picture taken.)
Once the photo is shot, visitors learn how to edit the images using Photo Fuse, a tool within Windows Live Photo Gallery that allows users to combine parts of different photos into one. They can share the photo online using another product, SkyDrive, that lets people store, organize and download files on Windows Live servers so they can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection.
Visitors to the booths can also get a second photo taken if they check in on Four Square or Facebook Places and show the elves.
High Road Communications is handling PR and social media for the campaign and Black Chalk Marketing also worked on the activation, from constructing the booths themselves to supplying the on-site brand ambassadors.
