The Alberta Science and Technology Foundation (AsTech) has selected Calgary’s Woodruff Sweitzer to help raise awareness of science and technology in the province.
“We want to spread the good news stories about our innovators and what they are doing,” said Bev Jones, executive director of AsTech, a private, non-profit foundation supported by 22 patron organizations including universities and large corporations.
A new awareness campaign will include PR initiatives, a revamped website, print advertising and packages to the organization’s patrons and employees. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of AsTech’s annual awards gala honouring the province’s top innovators.
“We want to get some excitement behind the gala,” said Susan Groeneveld, director of Woodruff Sweitzer, which won the account over three other provincial agencies. “It’s really the Oscars for science and technology.”
The campaign will continue throughout 2008 and will likely be expanded for AsTech’s 20th anniversary in 2009.
