The Globe and Mail has announced the 10 young Canadian creatives, media professionals and marketers who will represent Canada in the Young Lions and Young Marketers contests at this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The winners were chosen from more than 300 entries submitted by the industry’s brightest under-30 professionals. Finalists were tested with projects that had to be completed and presented in either 24- or 48-hour periods.
The winners were announced Tuesday.
Young Lions
• Copywriters Jordan Hamer and Spencer Dingle of BBDO Toronto will compete in the Print comptetition
• Hannah Smit and Kyle Lamb are both art directors at John St. and will compete in Film
• BBDO Proximity will send copywriter Shiran Teitelbaum and art director Alice Blastorah to compete in Cyber
• Marla Natoli, a product manager at Olive Media, and Neven Zeremski of Snowflake Digital compete in the media competition.
Young Marketers
Sahar Jamal, assistant brand manager at Reckitt Benickser, and Telus marketing specialist Michelle Yee will compete in the fourth annual Young Marketers contest.
“We’re pleased with the extraordinary calibre of bright, young minds that will represent Canada this summer, on the international stage at Cannes,” said Andrew Saunders, The Globe’s vice president of advertising sales said in a statement. “Advertising and marketing are very competitive industries, and these innovative individuals have demonstrated they’ve got the creativity and resourcefulness to succeed under pressure.”
Cannes Lions takes place June 16 to 22.
