Zig has been awarded agency of record status for Rexall.

Rexall, a pharma brand owned by Katz Group Canada, manages the Rexall, Rexall Pharma Plus, IDA and Guardian banners. However, its recent competitive review focused on just Rexall and Rexall Pharma Plus.

Andy Macaulay, Zig president, said the “very disciplined” review was focused on future strategy as opposed to spec creative.

“They were looking for a point of view on how the business would unfold moving forward and they really liked what we had to say in that regard,” Macaulay said.

“The breadth and quality of Zig’s work has been impressive, and they have a high level of comfort in the retail space,” said Denise Darragh, vice-president, marketing for Rexall, in a statement. “This new partnership presents many exciting opportunities for Rexall and our family of pharmacies, and we look forward to working on the growth of our brands with Zig’s support.”

Zig has retail experience with IKEA and Best Buy, and recently won Toys R Us and Babies R Us.

The Toronto-based agency only learned of the account win last week, so no timetable has yet be laid out for future campaigns.
