Following a formal agency review, the Interac Association and its affiliate Acxsys Corporation have selected Zulu Alpha Kilo and as their agency of record. The Montreal-based Tank will collaborate with Zulu on French-language work for the Quebec market.

Zulu was awarded the account several weeks ago, said Zak Mroueh, president and chief creative officer of Zulu. Agency 59 was the encumbent agency of record.

An extensive agency review concluded several weeks ago. According to Andrea Danovitch, director of marketing and brand strategy at Interac, half a dozen agencies made the shortlist.

Danovitch said Zulu was awarded the account based on chemistry and because Interac was in need of some “fresh thinking… We really are evolving in terms of branding and marketing strategies. Zulu is the right size, fit and they have great Quebec partners. They have all the core disciplines under one roof.”

Danovitch would not comment on whether or not Interac’s brand message will change under Zulu or when work will begin on a new campaign.

Interac Association is a not-for-profit organization that oversees the company’s consumer debit payment and cash withdrawal services. Acxsys, a non-consumer-facing management division, is largely concerned with bank-to-bank money transfer services.
