The duo has been named senior creative team at Zulu Alpha Kilo.

They first worked for the Toronto-based agency’s chief creative officer and CEO, Zak Mroueh, a few years ago during Mroueh’s time in the c-suite at Taxi.

Atkinson and James were most recently with BBDO, where they held the titles of senior writer and art director, respectively.

They won the Best in Show Television award at The Bessies in November for their work on FedEx’s “Gimmicks” commercial.

They’ve also taken home hardware at several other awards shows, including The One Show, the Marketing Awards and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and worked on accounts including McDonald’s, Excel Gum and Montana’s.

Atkinson and James join other former Proximity BBDO talent who have come to Zulu Alpha Kilo, including creative directors Jon Webber and Ari Elkouby, as well as Jeff Vermeersch, who came onboard last September as director of creative technology.

Zulu Alpha Kilo recently won several awards at the OBIE Awards for out-of-home advertising, including an International gold for its Courage Canada work, and a silver for “World Creativity and Innovation Week Calendar Posters.”
